Colour: Deep tawny with a red hue and distinctive yellow green edge. Nose: Vibrant and fresh with concentrated barrel aged characters balanced by intense fruit. Palate: The palate is the most elegant of the Penfolds tawny portfolio being soft, round and intense with fruit, oak and maturation characters all in harmony. The unique Penfolds fortifying spirit combines with all the age complexity to give a long, lingering and intense finish that is clean and tight. In 1844 Dr Christopher Penfold set up in practice at Magill, South Australia. By the early 1900’s Penfolds was among the leading fortified producers in Australia. Penfolds Father Grand Tawny is a tribute to 169 years of winemaking excellence. A blend of many outstanding tawny components separately matured in seasoned old oak casks, resulting in a minimum blended average age of ten years. The combination of extended cask maturation and Penfolds extensive experience in crafting fine Tawny wines, have resulted in a wine with concentration, vitality, exceptional balance of fruit, nutty oak age complexity and distinctive spirit. All of these elements culminate in a balanced, clean and lingering tight finish.
