A VSOP beautifully matured to perfection reflecting its Grande Champagne terroir, which has earned numerous awards and distinctions in the VSOP category.
Colour: Mahogany with copper hues.
Nose: Subtle, with crisp apple, vanilla, brown spices and cinnamon stick.
Palate: Lovely balance between freshness of fruit and sweet-scented vanilla, rich antique wood notes.
Finish: Excellent and remarkably long, with great balance between bright acidity and sweetness.
What does this wine tast like?
Drouet Cognac
The Drouet family has been rooted for three generations in the land of Grande Champagne, the Premier Cru of the Cognac region. The vineyard, authenticated since 1848, was awarded at the Universal Exhibition in Brussels in 1897. It is located in Salles d'Angles for 70% in Grande Champagne and for the rest in Petite Champagne, the second growth, the whole just a short distance from the town of Cognac.
The 40-hectare vineyard is planted for 93% in Ugni Blanc and the rest in CoLombard, two of the three major grape varieties authorized in the delimited region of Cognac, as provided for in the current legislations. The cultivation of the entire vineyard is organized in reasoned culture: grassing of the inter-rows, no weedkillers, organic fertilizer.
The two red copper stills used for the distillation of the wines (in double heating) are in small size of 10 hectos of load. The cut at the heart of the heating is entirely managed by the owner and by him alone. The ageing of the Cognacs is ensured in barrels of 250 to 400 liters exclusively and adapted according to their age (new barrels, red barrels and old barrels) and according to the age of the Cognac. A Rare alchemy in which each step is an Art.
