Matteo Ascheri is owner and winemaker at Ascheri Winery, and President of The Consorzio di Tutela Barolo Barbaresco Alba Langhe e Dogliani. Matteo Ascheri was born June 2, 1962 in Bra (CN). He is a husband and father of three boys, Giacomo, Giuseppe and Andrea. Matteo studied Economy and Commerce at the University of Turin in 1985 and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1987. He was directly in charge of the family cellars starting in 1988 when he replaced his deceased father Giacomo. He was chairman of the board of directors and also sole director of the Piedmont Wine Research Center - Tenuta Cannona for 6 years, from 1993 to 1999. He was then chairman of the board of directors of the Union of Alba Wine Producers for 6 years, from 1991 to 1997. He served as Vice-president of the Barolo & Barbaresco Consortium and of the Alba wines from 1992 to 1994, and Vice-president of the Alba - Bra Langhe and Roero Tourist Board from 2002 to 2005.
