Tasting Note

Bright ruby red color of medium intensity. The nose stands out for its complexity, with notes of red fruits such as raspberries, cassis and cherries, accompanied by soft tone reminiscent of tobacco, dill, laurel and a light touch of mint, all framed by aromas of chocolate, mocha and clove. On the palate it is a juicy and spicy wine, with a fresh acidity that enhances the red fruit, very well accompanied by the sweet notes of pastries, chocolate and nuts delivered by the French oak. Of a very gentle entrance, it has sweet and fine-grained tannins that lead to a refreshing acidity that balances the whole, crowned by an excellent persistence.

Errazuriz

Don Maximiano Errázuriz founded Viña Errázuriz in 1870. With his great vision for the future and his innovative, pioneering spirit, he planted the first French grape varieties in the Aconcagua Valley. His initiative and creativity were handed down to future generations and, in just over a century, his descendants consolidated the winery and positioned their wines among the world’s most noteworthy. Errázuriz Vineyard was one of the first Chilean wineries to be certified as sustainable by Wines of Chile and the Vinnova-Tecnovid consortium. This certification attests to its deep concern for the environment and the community, a fact that has been its inspiration since the vineyard’s founding in 1870.

Fransico Baettig Hidalgo

Francisco Baettig Hidalgo, head winemaker of Viña Errázuriz since 2003, possesses great talent and a clear vision for making the wines he wants in the glass. His time in important wineries in Chile, Argentina, the United States, and France has shaped his winemaking style, which is marked by elegance, balance and the expression of the fruit’s origin. Among much other recognition, he received the ‘2011 Winemaker of the Year Award’ from the Círculo de Cronistas Gastronómicos y del Vino de Chile (Chilean Guild of Food- and Wine writers).
