Domaine Michel Girard
Michel’s heritage in Sancerre stretches far back into history. The Girard family can trace their roots in Sancerre back to the French Revolution of 1789: an unbroken Girard family thread as growers and vineyard workers over the generations is recorded in the local parish annals. So the latest generation are proud Sancerrois to their core of their being.
Domaine Michel Gerard is owned and managed by two brothers, Philippe the winemaker and Benoît the viticulturalist, ably assisted by their two daughters Amandine and Margot. Michel Gerard who established the 20 hactare domaine in 1973 passed away in March 2021, aged 81, but his sons had been effectively running the domaine for many years.
