Tasting Note

Reserve Shiraz is the result of up to 30 individual Shiraz parcel components, which we assess out of barrel for qualities that show particular finesse and structure - the precursors to age-ability. We don’t limit this expression to individual vineyards, but rather build in many layers of complexity through fruit sources from various sites of the Barossa. Colour: Deep crimson with crimson hue. Aroma: A classic expression of Barossa Shiraz displaying intense aromas of concentrated black fruits, layers of dark chocolate and sage with hints of clove. Palate: The concentrated palate displays harmonious poise and balance with dark berry flavours and bitter chocolate leading to generous layers of long velvety tannin.

Gibson Wines was established in 1996 and draws on over 45 years of experience of its founder; viticulturist, geologist and winemaker, Rob Gibson. Rob – with wife Anne and son Adam – uphold a ‘wine growing’ philosophy. A belief deeply rooted in an understanding of the relationship between vineyards, their cycle of growth and maximising flavour intensity in resultant wines. During his years studying at Roseworthy College, and later as head of the first viticultural department of Penfolds, Rob’s passion for wine growing and geology led him to be known as ‘The Dirtman’. The Dirtman moniker continues with Gibson, as does the pursuit for maximising flavour.
