Tasting Note

Our Dirtman Shiraz is a blend of both Eden Valley and Barossa floor fruit. The two regions are distinctly different in climate and dirt. Bringing them together allows us to craft a wine that celebrates classic Barossa Shiraz generosity and plushness, with a backbone of finesse for aging. Matured in new and seasoned American oak, intense aromas of ripe blackberry, stone fruit and plum skin prevail, overlaid with nuances of smoky oak, coffee and vanillin spice. Colour: Deep crimson. Aroma: Intense aromas of ripe blackberry, stone fruit and plum skin, with nuances of smoked bacon and vanillin spice. Palate: The palate is rich and seductive showing blackberry and stone fruit flavours, hints of fresh ground coffee, toasty oak and lingering flavour punctuated by soft dry tannin.

Gibson Wines

Gibson Wines was established in 1996 and draws on over 45 years of experience of its founder; viticulturist, geologist and winemaker, Rob Gibson. Rob – with wife Anne and son Adam – uphold a ‘wine growing’ philosophy. A belief deeply rooted in an understanding of the relationship between vineyards, their cycle of growth and maximising flavour intensity in resultant wines. During his years studying at Roseworthy College, and later as head of the first viticultural department of Penfolds, Rob’s passion for wine growing and geology led him to be known as ‘The Dirtman’. The Dirtman moniker continues with Gibson, as does the pursuit for maximising flavour.
