Pierro Pino's

Pierro is one of the few Australian wineries that could claim to have established a trend that many others have followed. A medical practitioner as well as a fully qualified viticulturalist and winemaker, Mike juggled the two demanding vocations for 25 years. Only recently did he finish up with his duties as a country doctor to devote his energies full-time to perfecting his wines. Yet in some ways it was the a mixture of the two callings that lead to the birth of Pierro, which today is among the most acclaimed small wineries in Australia.

Dr. Peterkin was the first winemaker in Australia to make the red Bordeaux Blend and the first in Western Australia to promote the Semillon/Sauvignon blend which has since become the most popular wine to come out of WA. Best known for his award-winning Chardonnay (5th most drunk Charonnay in Australia) and the L.T.C (Little Touch of Chardonnay) Semillon/Sauvignon blend, which graced the table of the Australian Prime Minister in its Special Christmas Edition form. Dr. Peterkin has spent the last 15 years refining his red wines to match the perfection of his whites, and the attention to detail has paid off. His Cabernet/Merlot Reserve and LTCf (Little Touch of Cab. Franc) rate consistently high with the critics.
