Tasting Note

“The 2018 Primofiore wafts up from the glass wonderfully fresh and fruity, showing rosy florals, wild strawberries, green peppercorns and hints of sweet spice. This is silky in texture, with a hint of savory herbs up front, before further evolving to display tart wild berries with a subtle twang of sour citrus, which frames the experience nicely. The long, perfumed finale resonates with floral-tinged red and hints of blue fruit. This blend of 50% Corvina Veronese and Corvinone to 50% Cabernet Sauvignon and Franc is so incredibly pretty. Primofiore is matured for two years in cask and intended to be a more fruit-forward expression of Quintarelli.”

Quintarelli

The history of the estate begins in 1924, when Silvio Quintarelli founded it. His younger son, Giusepppe, took over the family business in the 1950s. From then on, he worked tirelessly and with great passion, making every effort to raise the estate's wines to the highest level of quality.

Francesco Grigoli

Francesco Grigoli was inspired to work in the cellars after spending many hours there with his grandfather, Giuseppe Quintarelli, and seeing the care that “Beppe” put into routine tasks like bottle labelling. “He worked with such passion that I was inspired to do the same thing in my job,” Francesco said. And he had reassuring words for anyone worried about where Quintarelli is headed in the absence of its longtime patriarch. “Nothing is going to change in the winemaking process, nor in the quantity of wine produced… We will respect my grandfather’s style and work hard to keep up the quality and good reputation he reached.”
