Partial carbonic maceration to promote the bright primary fruitiness of the Tempranillo, raspberry and juicy cherry, sappy and bright, with a thirst quenching tang. There's some lovely tannic build, that stops the wines from just being a fruit bomb. It actually contributes the shape and the definition to the lively finish.

Artuke is run by the family of Miguel Blanco, who have been working the land in the Northern part of the Rioja Alavesa for over a century. The wines are rooted firmly in their terroir and the winery philosophy is all about small scale, biodynamic production. With 22 hectares of vines spread over 32 plots; between the hilly villages of Baños de Ebro and Abalos on the upper terrace of the river Ebro in La Rioja Alta, this highly acclaimed winery creates individualistic wines that respect the history of their region and of their family wine tradition. The result is a thoroughly modern style of Rioja that is not heavily extracted or heavily wooded in style.
