Port Charlotte PAC 01 2011 56.1° is the third edition of the Cask Exploration Series. This single malt whisky from the island of Islay, Scotland, is made from 100% Scottish barley. The barley is highly peaty, with a count of 40 ppm.
Adam Hannett, Bruichladdich's master distiller, is responsible for this blend. It is a blend of two different whiskies. One has been aged for 6 years in first fill bourbon casks, then 2 years in first fill red wine casks from the Pauillac region. The other was also aged in ex-first fill bourbon casks for 6 years, and finished its ageing in second fill red wine casks from Pauillac for one year.
This whisky has not been chill-filtered, and its colour is natural.
