A blend of twenty eaux-de-vie produced using Grande Champagne, Petite Champagne and Fins Bois grapes. Created by Bernard Hine and Nicholas Freeman (Hunters & Frankau) in their quest to find the perfect match between the most expressive of cigars and House of Hine cognacs. Cigar Reserve is an invitation to embark upon a Gauguin-like journey through precious wood and sweet cinnamon. Rich and corpulent in character, its exotic aromas reveal a taste for adventure. Its deep amber tones signal a cascade of aromatic complexity: zingy spices – fresh pepper and tobacco – underscore notes of walnut, honey and lightly toasted flavours. Discreetly enveloping the palate, it is the perfect companion for the first puffs of a powerful and fragrant tobacco. Cue an almost irresistible urge to jump up and don a panama… Cigar Reserve is a distinctive expression of the house’s expertise, where a blend of eaux-de-vie aged for over fifteen years sustains an exchange with another great taste sensation: the cigar.
What does this wine tast like?
Thomas Hine & Co.
The Hine company is named after its proprietor Thomas Hine (sometimes recorded as Thomas Hone), an Englishman from Dorset, England. The company was founded in 1763. Following his arrest during the French Revolution, Thomas Hine married a young woman, Françoise Elisabeth, whose father owned a cognac house in Jarnac. Hine took the company to new heights, and eventually renamed it Thomas Hine & C°. in 1817. The Hine House has stood at the banks of the quai de l’Orangerie on the banks of the river Charente in Jarnac, France since the 18th century. It is one of the oldest houses in Jarnac and serves as the company's headquarters. In 1962, the house was granted a royal warrant from Queen Elizabeth II, as suppliers of cognac. Today it is still the only cognac house to hold this honour. In 2008, one of the factories of the House was bought by Tigran Arzakantsyan, the owner of Armenian the Great Valley wine and cognac company.
