SHATEC was set up in 1983 by the Singapore Hotel Association (SHA) to ensure a continuous pipeline of talents for Singapore's hospitality industry. SHA, which is the apex body for hotels in Singapore since 1961, embodies membership of 160 hotel entities today, accounting for some 80% of total gazetted room count.

A school for the industry by the industry, SHATEC has made its mark as a premium hospitality school and is today recognised for producing generations of accomplished hospitality professionals, entrepreneurs and globally-renowned chefs.

SHATEC offers both full-time and part-time programmes relevant to school leavers, adult learners, and industry practitioners who are keen to pursue a career in the hospitality and tourism industry. SHATEC’s programmes span across higher education, continuing education and training, corporate training as well as personal development in the following disciplines: Hospitality & Tourism, Culinary & Pastry and Food & Beverage Services.
